ATTIRE
We recommend smart casual clothing and suitable walking shoes for journey excursions to and from the train, for visiting places of interest. Comfortable dressing that is in natural subdued colours (refrain from using brightly-coloured clothing) that blend with the landscape are essential for all trips to wildlife reserves. It is customary to be formally dressed for dinner. The royal journey to places of rich history, ambience of the train, and the mood of other guests are all inviting opportunities to dress suitably for occasions. Do carry warm clothing with you, if you journey with us during winters.

YOUR TRAVEL DOCUMENTS
Travel Documents, valid only for the passenger(s) in whose name(s) the reservation(s) has/have been made, will be issued after the full payment has been made and not usually later than 14 days from the date of departure. You will need to carry your travel documents along with you before your journey departure.

If you require a particular type of diet, do inform us at the time of booking. We will make every effort to accommodate all culinary requests; we are, however, unable to provide meals that involve strict religious observance while preparing them.

BAGGAGE ON-BOARD
There is limited storage space inside your cabin. We request you to travel with luggage as per international airline rules for first / business class passengers. Do carry soft-topped luggage as these are easier to store. There is luggage storage in the luggage hold and under the cabin beds.

SMOKING POLICY
Smoking is not permissible on board the Indian Maharaja, in accordance with Indian Law. Smoking is also prohibited in all public places such as restaurants, shopping malls, airports, hotels, stations, public areas etc.

Kindly keep your mobile phone on silent mode on board the train so your fellow passengers can enjoy their moments too, especially when visiting certain monuments on excursions. We request you to not use your cell phone or laptop computers in public areas other than in the privacy of your cabin.

MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION
Being on a train journey, your cell phone’s reception may vary, but does improve when the train is nearing a station or if you are close to city areas.

YOUR HEALTH
You do not require any specific vaccinations to travel to India. However, foreign tourists must possess a Yellow Fever Vaccination certificate that conforms with international health regulations, either if you are coming from or travelling through Yellow Fever endemic countries. Anti-malaria precautions must be taken. It is highly advisable that you consult your physician for any personal health advice based on your travel itinerary. If you have been prescribed medicines, do carry enough supplies to last till the end of your trip. You should also carry sufficient insect repellent.

MINIMUM PASSENGER REQUIREMENT
All our journeys require a minimum number of passengers to fulfill them. If this has not be accomplished for some reason, we will offer you an alternate departure date or an alternate journey or a refund of your monies paid to us. Even though this is highly unlikely, an advance intimation of 30 days will be given to you.

CHILD POLICY
Although we accommodate children, we request the parents who may be travelling with us, to be mindful of the adult atmosphere that we endeavour to maintain.

  1. Children below 5 years can travel for free, if they can share the bed(s) with their parents. Although an option, the Indian Maharaja does not recommended this as it will not be comfortable due to the size of the beds.
  2. An extra bunk bed for children of any age will cost you USD 375 per night. This cost will also attract taxes, surcharges etc. as applicable for an adult. This bunk bed will be subject to availability during the time of booking.
  3. If two children are travelling with their parents, they can be accommodated in a separate cabin; the fare for the first child will be USD 375 per night but the parents will have to bear the cost of an adult’s fare for the second child.
  4. Do note that the cabins in a railway carriage are not interconnected.
  5. You will also bear any applicable taxes as extra charges.
