Lachung (Yumthang valley), Sikkim
Lachung is a beautiful small town in northeast Sikkim, India. Lachung is situated at an altitude of 9000ft. Lachung is the last village in North Sikkim before Yumthang and has emerged as a tourist destination because of its natural environ and the popularity of Yumthang valley that is just 24 kilometers from here. Lachung has been described as the "most picturesque village of Sikkim". The entire valley gets a completely different look in winter when wrapped by thick layer of snow. Lachung provides a base for the travelers bound to Yumthang Valley, popularly known as the 'Switzerland of the East'.
How to reach This Place:
One can reach Lachung by taking regular taxis (Sumo or similar cars) from Gangtok. Distance from Gangtok to Lachung is 160 Kms. and about 06 hours drive.

The famous hotel in Lachung is “YARLAN” and it is 3 star deluxe hotel.
During winter the town is usually covered in snow.

Yumthang: Yumthang at an elevation of 11,800 ft and 140 kms from Gangtok is a paradise for nature lovers with a fascinating blend of flora and fauna and breathtaking scenic grandeur. The valley boasts a large variety of alpine flowers. Yumthang 'Tsa-Chu'or the hot spring of the left bank of Lachung Chu is immensely popular for its curative properties and healing power.
