BEKAL, KARNATAKA
Bekal is a small place located on the shores of the Arabian Sea in the Pallikare village in Kasargod district of Kerala State. Situated 15 Kms away from the Kasargod town. The fort is a major tourist attraction. The Bekal Fort is the largest and best preserved of its kind in Kerala. There is a temple at the entrance of the Fort dedicated to Lord Anjaneya.

By Rail:
The Bekal Fort railway station is located near Pallikere.
Distance from Kanhangad Railway station: 10 kms
Distance from Kasaragod Railway station:  14 kms

By Air:
The nearest airport is located at Mangalore and Kozhikode, about 80 and 200 kms respectively.

By Road:
An excellent network of roads connects Bekal resorts to major towns in Kerala and Karnataka.

Places of Interest

Bekal Fort
- Bekal Fort has remained, as a silent witness to the eventful yester years. The Bekal Fort is a source of attraction for historians, tourists and nature - lovers for centuries as it embodies memories of a glorious past.

The fort is believed to have been built by Sivappa Nayaka of the Ikkeri Dynasty in 1650. Later, the fort came under the possession of Haider Ali, the well-known ruler of Mysore, in 1763. English East India Company took possession of the fort in 1799.

A temple devoted to Hanuman is situated at the entrance of the Bekal Fort. An old mosque, believed to have been built by Tippu Sultan, is another tourist attraction.

Kodi Cliffs
- Set between the Kappil Beach and the Chandragiri Fort, the cliffs offer a magnificent view of the amazing colors during sunset. The Kappil Beach is a flourishing and alluring destination nearby the cliff.

Chandragiri Fort
– This fort was built in the 17th century and is located on the south east of Kasargod by the side of the river Payaswini.

Our Lady of Sorrows Church
- This shrine was constructed in 1890 at Bela, 12 kms from Kasargod.

Bekal Hole Aqua Park
– A water sport lover would like this unique park with facilities like pedal boats, water cycles and more. The other tourist attractions include Valiyaparamba, Ananthapura Lake Temple, Pallikere Beach etc.
