DUNGARPUR Cuddled up in the foothills of the Aravallis, 120 km off Udaipur, Dungarpur has a diversified topography, ranging from wild and rugged terrain to fertile plains of alluvial soil. The main attractions here are the Gaib Sagar Lake, Udai Bilas Palace, Juna Mahal, Vijay Raj Rajeshwar Temple, and Government Archaeological Museum.





EKLINGJI
is a small town known for its temples. The Eklingji Temple is devoted to Shiva, the guardian deity of the Mewar. The Maharajas of Mewar considered themselves to be the regents (dewans) under Eklingji who was the vitual ruler of their land.





GHANERAO
and its red sandstone havelis and numerous old temples, baolis, and marble chattris, makes Ghanerao an irresistible place. Founded by Gopal Das Rathore in 1606, Ghanerao is 5 km from the Kumbhalgarh Sanctuary.







HALDIGHATI
is a historical place symbolizing of courage and bravery. It was here that the legendary war between Rana Pratap and Akbar in 1576. It is situated 60 km from Udaipur.






JAISAMAND LAKE
With dimensions of 15 km by 10 km, Jaisamand Lake is a vast artificial lake situated 52 kms southeast of Udaipur. The lake has the summer palaces of the Ranis of Udaipur surrounding it. These palaces date back to 17th centuries. The Hawa Mahal and Ruti Rani palaces are main attractions here.





KUMBHALGARH
Kumbhalgarh, 63 km from Udaipur, has one of the finest specimen of defensive fortifications in entire Rajasthan. There are several temples here that are also worth visiting. A stroll along the walls of the fort offers great panoramic views. The Kumbhalgarh Wildlife Sanctuary is to the west of the fort. The sanctuary has endangered wolf, leopard, chowsingha, sambhar, hyena, sloth, flying squirrel, crocodiles, and numerous bird species.




NAGDA
has three ruins Jain temples, Adbhutji Temple and the Vaishnavite Sas-Bahu Temples. All these temples belong to the 11th century. Eklingi, situated in the vicinity of Nagda, can be reached by bicycles.






NARLAI
Rawal Narlai, is situated 25 km beyond Kumbhalgarh Fort. Famous for its 17th-century fort, Narlai is also a renowned Hindu and Jain pilgrimage.








NATHWARA
48 kms from Udaipur, Nathwara is an important Hindu pilgrim centre. It is also famous for its glorious tradition of Pichwal paintings.







RAJSAMAND LAKE
is situated on National highway 8, 56 km north of Udaipur, at Kankroli. The lake was formed by a dam constructed on the Gomati River by Maharana Raj Singh I (1653-6180). There are decorative arches and pavilions lining the lake.

RANAKPUR 98 kms away from Udaipur boasts of some of the most exquisite Jain temples in the country.








SARDARSAMAND
Situated 200 km from Udaipur on the way to Jodhpur, Sardarsamand borrows its name from the great grandfather of Maharaja Gaj Singh of Jodhpur. The Sardarsamand Palace (now converted into a hotel) and Balsamand Lake are two major tourist attraction of the place.
