ZOOLOGICAL GARDEN & MINI ZOO - The Zoological Park and Mini Zoo has a unique collection of animal species, rarely found in other places. It has more than 200 species of animals which include the Nicobar pigeon and the Andaman pig. The salt-water crocodile-breeding programme also attracts a fair amount of attention. Most of the crocodiles bred here are set free in the wild waters of the forests.

CELLULAR JAIL - One of the major landmarks of Port Blair is the Cellular Jail, a three-storey high prison constructed by the British in 1906. Originally built by the British imprison dangerous criminals, it was subsequently used to keep Indian freedom fighters as prisoners. The massive edifice bears testimony to the atrocities inflicted on the inmates by the British. Cellular jail had 698 solitary cells to ensure no contact between prisoners. Today, just three out of the original seven wings of the building remain. One can see the photographs and lists of the ‘convicts’ held here, a death house and the gallows. This is enough to recreate the miserable plight of prisoners held here, in the early twentieth century. Besides the Museum and the Art Gallery, one can also see the Sound and Light Show, in both English and Hindii.
