Ambalapuzha Krishna Temple
Ambalapuzha krishna temple showcases the typical temple architecture of Kerala. During the festive season of march the city offers glimpses of the town culture and payasam, a traditional sweet dish.







Arthunkal

Arthunkal a pilgrim centre, is situated 22 kms north of Alappuzha near Sherthallai. The town is famous for the St. Andrews Church built by Portuguese missionaries. The feast of St. Sebastian is held here every january.







Chavara Bhavan

About 6 km from Alappuzha and accessible only by boat, Chavara Bhavan is the ancestral home of Kuriakose Elias Chavara. Today it is a holy shrine and spiritual resort where thousands of devotees gather for prayers. A 250-year-old historically important beacon of light is preserved here in its original form.





Edatgya Church

The Edatgya Church is situated on the Alappuzha-Thiruvalla road at about 24 km from Alappuzha . The church was established in 1810. Dedicated to St. George, it attract pilgrims from all parts of South India during the annual festival, in the first week of May.



Krishnapuram

Krishnapuram Palace, a masterpeice of the Kerala style of architecture is located forty-seven kms from Alappuzha. Having been the residence of the Kayamkulam dynasty. the palce was renovated in the 18th century with gabled roofs, narrow corridors and dormer windows. The palace has been declared as a national heritage site. The 49 sq. metre Gajendra Moksham is one of the most fascinating exhibits here. It is the largest single band of mural painting to be discovered in Kerala. The other attractions include gardens in the palace compound and a newly erected mandapam to house the statue of the Buddha.
